Saurav Das is an independent investigative journalist, RTI activist, and transparency campaigner from New Delhi who became a national talking point in June 2026 when he was named Chief Spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led movement built around student rights, competitive-exam reform, and government accountability. Long before entering politics, he had built a reputation as a fearless RTI-driven reporter taking on India's judiciary, police, and bureaucracy.

EARLY LIFE:- Saurav Das developed an early interest in public governance and accountability during his college years. While pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at Amity University, Noida (2016–2019), he began filing Right to Information (RTI) applications at the age of 18 - using the law to expose administrative gaps that drew national media attention while he was still an undergraduate.

CAREER JOURNEY:- Saurav Das interned on the NDTV news desk in New Delhi (December 2018–January 2019) before formally launching his career as an independent journalist in August 2020, writing on law, governance, the judiciary, crime, and transparency for outlets including The Caravan, Al Jazeera, The Wire, The Hindu, Article 14, New Lines Magazine, The Quint, BoomLive, Firstpost, and LiveLaw. He also writes a recurring column for Frontline and received support from the Pulitzer Center for his investigative work on judicial and policing accountability. He has repeatedly used litigation to push back against roadblocks in his reporting, including a 2020 intervention that prompted the Central Information Commission to fast-track pandemic-era information appeals, and various public interest litigations on broader accountability issues. Between 2021 and 2023 he also worked briefly in the private sector - as a video post-producer at digital agency Monks (Oct 2021–Apr 2022) and as a content associate at GLG (May 2022–Mar 2023), researching U.S. companies' credit profiles. He co-founded the Climate Action Front, extending his advocacy into environmental transparency, and in 2024 was named among the "30 Young Indians Transforming the World's Largest Elections" by the Young India Foundation. He is currently writing his debut book, Complicit Silence: The Court's Role in India's Quiet Suffering. In June 2026, Das was appointed Chief Spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party, joining fellow spokespersons Vijeta Dahiya (filmmaker) and Ashutosh Ranka (former management consultant). Under this role, he has pressed for the resignation of the Union Education Minister over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy and represented CJP in talks with central government officials during student-led demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The appointment also drew scrutiny over his past professional associations, which a fellow CJP spokesperson addressed by saying the movement's cause was larger than any one individual.

PERSONAL LIFE:- Saurav Das is based in New Delhi and describes a fairly simple, work-focused lifestyle centered on research, writing, and advocacy rather than commercial or brand engagements. In his free time he enjoys travelling, reading, yoga, swimming, and dancing, and is a regular gym-goer.
