Fact-Checking Policy

At The Cine Buzz, accuracy is the foundation of everything we publish. We hold ourselves to rigorous editorial standards to ensure every story we publish is truthful, well-sourced, and respectful of our readers' trust.

1. Our Commitment to Accuracy

At The Cine Buzz, accuracy is the foundation of everything we publish. We cover Bollywood, Hollywood, celebrity news, music, cinema, and lifestyle — and across all these verticals, our editorial team is dedicated to presenting information that is thoroughly verified before it reaches our readers.

We believe that fast reporting and accurate reporting are not in conflict. Speed never takes precedence over truth. Every breaking news item, exclusive, and feature undergoes a verification process before publication.

2. Source Standards & Verification

All editorial content published on The Cine Buzz is backed by credible, verifiable sources. Our journalists are required to follow these source standards:

  • Primary sources: Direct statements from celebrities, publicists, film studios, production houses, record labels, or official press releases are given the highest priority.
  • On-record confirmation: Claims are confirmed on-record wherever possible. Anonymous sources are used only when there is a compelling editorial need and are clearly labeled as such.
  • Multiple corroboration: For any significant factual claim — especially involving controversy, allegations, or unverified reports — a minimum of two independent sources are required before publication.
  • Official channels: For box office numbers, award results, casting confirmations, and film release dates, we rely on official studio statements, verified social media announcements, or established trade publications.
  • No anonymous social media sources: Unverified social media posts or anonymous online comments are not treated as standalone source material.

3. Our Verification Process

Before any story is published, it goes through the following editorial steps:

  1. Story intake: The reporter or contributor submits the story with all supporting source documentation, links, and references.
  2. Desk review: The editor on duty reviews the accuracy of all factual claims, checks source reliability, and flags any unverified information for follow-up.
  3. Cross-verification: Key facts — names, dates, quotes, and figures — are independently cross-checked against primary sources or established news agencies.
  4. Quote authentication: All quotes attributed to public figures are verified against official statements, press releases, video footage, or direct interviews. Paraphrased statements are clearly distinguished from direct quotations.
  5. Legal & ethical review: Stories involving allegations, legal matters, or sensitive personal information receive an additional review to ensure compliance with journalistic ethics and applicable laws.
  6. Publication clearance: Final approval is granted by the Editor-in-Chief or an authorised senior editor before the story goes live.

4. Separating News from Opinion & Speculation

The Cine Buzz clearly distinguishes between news reporting and opinion or speculation:

  • News articles report verified, factual information and are clearly labeled as such.
  • Opinion and commentary pieces are marked as "Opinion" or "Editorial" and do not represent the factual position of The Cine Buzz as a publication.
  • Gossip and rumour coverage is labeled with appropriate caveats such as "reportedly," "sources suggest," or "unconfirmed," and does not present unverified information as established fact.
  • Sponsored and brand content is always disclosed with a "Brand Post" or "Sponsored" label and is clearly separated from independent editorial content.
  • Listicles, features, and reviews reflect the considered opinions of the credited author and are distinguished from straight news reporting.

5. Corrections & Updates Policy

We acknowledge that errors can occur even with rigorous processes in place. When we are wrong, we correct ourselves — promptly, transparently, and without reservation.

Minor Corrections Typographical errors, minor factual inaccuracies such as incorrect dates or misspelled names, and similar small errors are corrected immediately upon discovery. A correction note is appended at the bottom of the relevant article indicating what was corrected and when.

Significant Corrections If a factual error materially affects the substance of a story, we issue a prominent correction at the top of the article explaining what was reported incorrectly and what the accurate information is. We do not silently delete or alter content to conceal errors.

Retractions In cases where a story is fundamentally inaccurate and cannot be corrected, we will retract it. A retraction notice will remain publicly visible in place of the original article, explaining why the content was removed.

Correction Requests Readers, public figures, or their representatives who believe a factual error has been published may submit a correction request to our editorial team at hello@thecinebuzz.in. All requests are reviewed within 48 hours by a senior editor.

6. Editorial Independence

The Cine Buzz maintains a strict separation between its editorial team and its commercial or advertising operations. Our fact-checking and editorial decisions are made independently of any business relationships, sponsorships, or advertising arrangements.

  • Advertisers, sponsors, and brand partners have no influence over our editorial content or the way stories are reported.
  • Paid content (Brand Posts) is clearly labeled and produced separately from our independent editorial team.
  • No individual, organisation, or celebrity receives favourable coverage in exchange for commercial consideration.
  • Journalists and contributors are expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest to editors before covering a subject.

7. Contributor & Freelancer Standards

All contributors and freelancers writing for The Cine Buzz are bound by these same fact-checking and accuracy standards. Before publication, all contributed content is reviewed and edited by a member of our in-house editorial team. We do not publish contributed content that has not been fact-checked to the same standard as our staff-written articles.

Contributors found to have deliberately fabricated facts, misattributed quotes, or plagiarised content will have their work retracted and their association with The Cine Buzz terminated.

8. Use of AI & Automated Tools

Where AI-assisted tools are used in the research or drafting process, all output is reviewed, verified, and edited by a human journalist before publication. The Cine Buzz does not publish AI-generated content that has not been fact-checked and approved by an editor. Final responsibility for the accuracy of all published content rests with our editorial team.

9. Handling Sensitive Topics

Stories involving legal proceedings, allegations of misconduct, mental health, personal tragedy, or other sensitive matters are handled with additional care:

  • Individuals accused of wrongdoing are given an opportunity to respond before a story is published.
  • Allegations are clearly identified as allegations and not presented as proven facts until confirmed by a court or official body.
  • We avoid unnecessary intrusion into the private lives of public figures where there is no legitimate public interest.
  • Reporting on mental health, illness, or personal tragedy is handled with sensitivity and empathy.
