Editorial Guidelines

The Cine Buzz is committed to the highest standards of entertainment journalism. These Editorial Guidelines govern how our team researches, writes, edits, and publishes content across all verticals — from Bollywood and Hollywood to music, cinema, celebrity, and lifestyle. Every person who contributes to this publication is expected to read, understand, and follow these guidelines.

1. Our Editorial Mission

The Cine Buzz exists to inform, engage, and entertain audiences who love Indian and global entertainment. Our mission is to deliver accurate, timely, and compelling coverage of Bollywood, Hollywood, South Cinema, music, celebrity culture, box office, web series, and lifestyle — while maintaining the trust and respect of our readers at all times.

We are a publication that takes entertainment seriously. We believe entertainment journalism matters, that it shapes culture, influences public opinion, and deserves the same rigorous standards applied to any other form of reporting.

2. Core Editorial Values

Every piece of content published on The Cine Buzz must reflect these values:

Accuracy All factual claims must be verified before publication. When information cannot be confirmed, it must be clearly labeled as unconfirmed, rumoured, or speculative. We never present guesswork as fact.

Fairness We cover all subjects — celebrities, films, studios, and public figures — with fairness and without prejudice. Criticism must be based on demonstrable evidence, not personal bias. Positive coverage must be earned, not bought.

Independence Our editorial decisions are made free from commercial, political, or personal pressure. No advertiser, sponsor, brand partner, or publicist dictates our editorial agenda.

Transparency We are open about who we are, how we work, how we source our stories, and how we correct our mistakes. Readers should always be able to trust what they read on The Cine Buzz.

Respect We treat all individuals — public figures and private citizens alike — with basic human dignity. We do not demean, mock, or dehumanise. We hold opinions without cruelty.

Accountability We take responsibility for what we publish. When we are wrong, we correct it. When we cause harm, we acknowledge it.

3. Content Standards

3.1 News Reporting

All news articles published on The Cine Buzz must meet the following standards:

  • Every factual claim must be supported by at least one verifiable source. Claims of significant consequence require two or more independent sources.
  • Headlines must accurately reflect the content of the article. Clickbait headlines that misrepresent the story are not permitted.
  • Leads must answer the essential journalistic questions — who, what, when, where, why, and how — as clearly and concisely as possible.
  • Breaking news stories may be published before full verification is complete only if they are clearly labeled as "developing" and updated promptly as more information becomes available.
  • Stories must be written in clear, accessible English. Jargon, unnecessary complexity, and padding are to be avoided.

3.2 Exclusives & Interviews

  • Exclusives must be based on original reporting. Rehashing another publication's story with minimal additions does not constitute an exclusive.
  • Interview content must accurately represent what the subject said. Quotes must not be taken out of context or edited in a way that distorts the subject's meaning.
  • When a subject has agreed to speak on a specific condition (on-record, off-record, or on background), that agreement must be honoured without exception.
  • Embargoed information must be respected. Publishing embargoed content early without authorisation is a serious breach of editorial trust.

3.3 Reviews & Criticism

  • Film, web series, music, and event reviews represent the considered opinion of the credited reviewer and are clearly labeled as such.
  • Reviews must be based on genuine engagement with the work being reviewed. A film review requires watching the film. A music review requires listening to the album.
  • Reviewers must disclose any personal or professional relationships with the subjects or creators of the work being reviewed.
  • Criticism must be constructive, substantiated, and proportionate. Personal attacks on artists are not criticism and will not be published.

3.4 Gossip & Rumour Coverage

The Cine Buzz covers entertainment gossip as a recognised and legitimate part of celebrity journalism. We do this responsibly:

  • Gossip and rumour content is clearly labeled with appropriate language such as "reportedly," "according to sources," "rumoured," or "unconfirmed."
  • We do not present unverified gossip as established fact under any circumstances.
  • Before publishing a rumour involving a specific named individual, editors must assess whether the story carries sufficient public interest to justify the potential reputational impact.
  • We do not publish gossip that endangers personal safety, reveals genuinely private medical information, or involves minors.

3.5 Sponsored & Brand Content

  • All paid, sponsored, or brand-commissioned content is clearly labeled "Brand Post" or "Sponsored Content" at the top of the article.
  • Sponsored content is produced separately from the independent editorial team and does not influence editorial decisions in any way.
  • Sponsored content must still meet basic standards of factual accuracy. The Cine Buzz will not publish sponsored content that contains false or misleading claims.
  • Editorial staff must not accept gifts, payments, or hospitality from brands or public relations representatives in exchange for coverage.

4. Writing Standards

Headlines

  • Headlines must be accurate, clear, and honest. They must not promise something the article does not deliver.
  • Superlatives and extreme language must be supported by the content of the article.
  • We avoid headlines that are deliberately misleading, sensationalised, or designed purely to generate clicks at the expense of accuracy.

Language & Tone

  • The Cine Buzz uses a warm, engaging, and conversational tone that reflects our love of entertainment and our respect for our audience.
  • We write in Indian English, following standard spelling and grammar conventions appropriate for our primarily Indian readership.
  • Offensive language, slurs, and gratuitously provocative language are not permitted in editorial content.
  • We avoid language that stereotypes individuals on the basis of gender, religion, caste, ethnicity, sexuality, or disability.

Attribution

  • All information sourced from other publications must be properly attributed. We do not reproduce another outlet's reporting as if it were our own.
  • Direct quotes from interviews, press conferences, or public statements must be clearly attributed to the speaker.
  • Data, statistics, and research findings must be attributed to their original source.

Images

  • All images published on The Cine Buzz must be properly licensed, sourced, or credited.
  • We do not publish images obtained through unlawful means or images that invade an individual's reasonable expectation of privacy.
  • Image captions must accurately describe what is shown.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Maintaining editorial independence requires actively managing conflicts of interest. Our policy is as follows:

  • Journalists and contributors must not cover subjects with whom they have a significant personal, financial, or professional relationship without prior disclosure to the editor.
  • Staff members must not accept gifts, free travel, hospitality, or payments from individuals or organisations they cover or may cover, beyond what is standard practice for attending a press event or media screening.
  • Any financial interest in a company, film production, or entertainment venture being covered must be disclosed immediately to the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Personal social media activity by staff members must not compromise the publication's independence or create the impression of bias.

6. Privacy & Respect for Individuals

Public Figures

Public figures — including actors, directors, musicians, athletes, and celebrities — accept a degree of scrutiny as part of their public role. However, they retain a reasonable expectation of privacy in certain areas of their lives. The Cine Buzz does not publish:

  • Information about minor children of celebrities, unless voluntarily shared by the family.
  • Medical or health information not voluntarily disclosed by the individual.
  • Details of romantic or sexual relationships not voluntarily made public.
  • Home addresses or information that could facilitate physical access to an individual.

Private Individuals

Private individuals who become subjects of a news story — such as family members of celebrities, bystanders in viral videos, or crime victims — are entitled to greater protection than public figures. Their inclusion in any story must be proportionate to the genuine public interest.

Minors

The Cine Buzz does not publish content that identifies, endangers, or exploits minors in any way. Stories involving minors are handled with the highest level of editorial sensitivity.

7. Social Media & User-Generated Content

  • Information sourced from social media is treated as a tip, not a confirmed fact. It must be independently verified before being presented as news.
  • Screenshots of social media posts used in articles must be from verified accounts and accurately attributed.
  • User-generated content (videos, photos, statements shared by the public) may only be used with appropriate credit and, where required, permission.
  • The Cine Buzz's official social media accounts reflect the same editorial values as the website. Inflammatory, false, or irresponsible content will not be shared on our platforms.

8. Plagiarism & Intellectual Property

Plagiarism is a fundamental breach of journalistic ethics and will not be tolerated at The Cine Buzz.

  • All content published under a byline must be the original work of the credited author.
  • Reproducing substantial portions of another publication's article — even with attribution — is not permitted without explicit permission.
  • Aggregating and summarising reporting from other outlets is acceptable only when accompanied by proper attribution, a link to the original source, and meaningful original contribution.
  • Any contributor found to have plagiarised content will have their work removed immediately and their relationship with The Cine Buzz terminated.

9. Corrections & Accountability

Please refer to our Fact-Checking Policy for full details on how corrections, updates, and retractions are handled. In summary:

  • Errors are corrected promptly and transparently, with a visible correction note on the affected article.
  • We do not silently delete or alter published content to hide mistakes.
  • Significant factual errors are corrected with a prominent notice at the top of the article.
  • Stories that are fundamentally inaccurate are retracted, with a public notice explaining why.
  • Readers and subjects may submit correction requests to hello@thecinebuzz.in and can expect a response within 48 hours.

10. Editorial Oversight & Compliance
