Monsoon Magic: Anupama Prakash on Why the Rains Bring Her a Sense of Renewal

For actor-producer Anupama Prakash, the monsoon isn't just a season - it's a much-needed pause button. Having built a versatile career across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi film and web content, with credits like Risknamaa, Prabha Ki Diary, Inside Stories: Handcuffed, Manglik, and Farzi Kaka, Anupama has also stepped confidently into production with her banner Kaccha Lemmon Productions. Her production slate includes Gajanan Aao Phir Ek Baar, Band Baja Aafat, Ranjhan Milya, and the soon-to-release Shart: A Weird Bet.

But no matter how packed her calendar gets, Anupama makes sure the rains don't pass her by unnoticed.

Talking about what draws her to the season year after year, she says it comes down to a feeling more than anything else. "What I appreciate most about the monsoon is the sense of renewal it brings. The rain, greenery and fragrance of wet earth create a very calming and refreshing atmosphere," she shares.

Her ideal rainy day, she says, is a quiet one. "A rainy day is best enjoyed with a warm cup of tea, some comforting food and good music. If I have time, I also enjoy simply sitting by the window and watching the rain," she adds, noting that these small, unhurried moments are her way of resetting between projects.

No monsoon is complete without its soundtrack, and for Anupama, one song stands above the rest. "Rimjhim Gire Saawan is one of my all-time favourite monsoon songs. Its melody is timeless, and it beautifully captures the gentle romance and nostalgia associated with the rains," she says.

Food, naturally, plays its part too. Anupama keeps it simple and classic. "During the monsoon, I enjoy simple comfort food such as hot pakoras with tea. It is a classic combination that makes a rainy evening feel even more special," she reveals.

And if her schedule ever allows for a monsoon getaway, there's one destination she always returns to. "The lush green hills, misty weather and peaceful surroundings make it a wonderful place to unwind," she says of Lonavala - her go-to escape when the rains call for a break from the city.
