Barkha Singh Steps Beyond Acting, Joins Footwear Brand Nuva as Chief Creative Officer

Actress Barkha Singh, recognised for her work in Masaba Masaba, Criminal Justice and Engineering Girls, is adding a new dimension to her career. She has joined women’s footwear label Nuva as its Chief Creative Officer, marking her first major foray into the business side of fashion.

In this new capacity, Singh will partner with Nuva’s founder and CEO, Avni Jain, to shape the brand’s design language, visual identity and overall creative direction. Her stated aim is to bridge international style sensibilities with the daily needs and ambitions of Indian women, translating broader fashion movements into footwear that feels relevant to the local market.

Nuva, launched in 2026, has built its positioning around the idea that style need not come at the cost of comfort. Among its signature offerings are the ‘Steady-Form’ footbed, designed for all-day wearability, and a patent-pending ‘Style-Switch’ mechanism that lets users swap heel types on a single pair of shoes - effectively allowing one design to serve multiple looks and occasions.

For Singh, the appointment represents a shift from simply appreciating fashion to actively shaping it from a business standpoint. She has described the opportunity as a natural extension of a long-standing personal interest, now channelled into a commercial and creative leadership role.

The move comes even as Singh keeps her acting career active. She recently featured in Darshan Raval’s music video Naal Naal Ve, and is said to be attached to an undisclosed upcoming project as well as a new web series, suggesting her entertainment work will continue alongside her responsibilities at Nuva.

With this dual track - one foot in cinema and television, the other in fashion entrepreneurship - Singh joins a growing list of actors who are using their public profile and creative instincts to build ventures outside the entertainment industry.
