Neeru Sharma Steps Behind the Camera with 'Bandra Boy,' a Sharp Look at Media and Public Perception

After more than twenty years of covering Bollywood from the press box, Neeru Sharma is now telling her own story - and from the director's chair this time.

Neeru Sharma, a veteran entertainment journalist who has reported for outlets including Aaj Tak, News 24, E-24, and Sahara India, has spent her career watching the entertainment industry from the inside. That vantage point has now shaped her directorial debut, a 21-minute short film called Bandra Boy, which is set to make the rounds at film festivals both in India and overseas.

Sharma wrote, produced and directed the film herself, and it's clear she's drawing on everything she's seen on the job. Bandra Boy is billed as a thriller, but at its heart it's really a pointed look at how quickly people form opinions - about celebrities and ordinary people alike - based on little more than headlines, gossip, and half the story.

It's a fitting subject for someone who has spent two decades in newsrooms watching narratives take shape in real time. With her first film, Sharma poses a question that feels increasingly relevant: are we judging people before we've actually bothered to find out the truth?
