Tu Yaa Koi Nahi: How Ishika Shahi Found Her Myra - And a Man Who Could Play Two

When Ishika Shahi set out to cast her new web show Tu Yaa Koi Nahi, she wasn't just looking for actors who could deliver lines. She was looking for people who could make her cry.

She found them.

The show, produced under Director's Kut Productions and now streaming on their official YouTube channel, stars Priyanshi Yadav and Mishkat Verma - two choices that, by Ishika's own admission, weren't without doubt at first.

The Quiet Girl Who Could Scream

Priyanshi Yadav walked into her audition soft-spoken, polite, almost gentle. And Ishika panicked a little.

"When I first met Priyanshi, I wondered if she would be able to portray someone like Myra - who is loud, bold, emotional, and intense," the writer-director recalls. "Myra screams, shouts, fights, and even experiences a complete mental breakdown. She has such a strong personality that I genuinely questioned whether Priyanshi could embody her."

It was Priyanshi's mother who put that doubt to rest - with a laugh. "Ishika, you don't know her."

She didn't. Not yet.

One audition scene later, she did. "The moment I saw her perform, I knew we had found our Myra," Ishika says. "There were times when I found myself crying while watching her perform - she brought such authenticity and emotion to every scene." High praise, but Ishika isn't done: "Any director or writer would be lucky to have her."

The Man Playing Two Men

If Priyanshi's casting was a surprise, Mishkat Verma's was a challenge - his, not Ishika's.

Mishkat plays a double role: Ansh, raw and intense with an air of quiet menace, and Yash, all charm, comedy and warmth. Two people, one actor, zero room for confusion between them.

"Watching Mishkat switch between these two personalities was incredible," says Ishika. So incredible, in fact, that she kept breaking into applause mid-scene. Mishkat eventually had enough. "Ishika, the next time you like my scene, just say it's nice."

She obliged. And he kept delivering.

"He mastered both characters," she says. "Not every actor can convincingly pull off two such contrasting personalities - but he did it beautifully."

Why YouTube, and What She's Watching For

Releasing on YouTube was a deliberate choice for Ishika, and one she speaks about with genuine enthusiasm. "It's a privilege to have audiences interact directly with your work - to be able to read their comments," she says. "As a writer, it gives you access to perspectives you might never have considered before."

With Episode 1 already live, there's one thing she's paying close attention to: chemistry. Specifically, whether audiences fall for it the way she did while writing it.

"Episode 1 ends with a hook that sets up Ansh's background, his relationship with Myra, and the story behind their love," she explains. "Even though the story starts with a dark premise, Yash's arrival immediately brings warmth and lightness. When Ansh enters, viewers will see a completely different side of Mishkat - and understand how different Myra's life once was."

Episode 2, she promises, is where that journey properly begins.
