Devgn CineX Sets Sights on South India with 18 New Screens

Devgn CineX is doubling down on South India, with two new multiplexes set to open by the end of the year in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The Bengaluru property will bring 11 screens, while Hyderabad gets a 7-screen megaplex - together adding 18 screens to the chain's growing footprint in the region.

The move is part of a broader pan-India push for the exhibition brand, which currently runs 57 screens across 19 locations in the country. Another 30 screens are already in the pipeline, pointing to an aggressive growth phase for the company.

Devgn CineX has been positioning itself as more than a traditional multiplex chain. Alongside film screenings, it has leaned into premium hospitality, curated food and beverage offerings, live sports viewing, and venues for private and corporate events - betting that audiences want an experience built around the outing, not just the film itself.

Founder Ajay Devgn said Bengaluru and Hyderabad hold a personal significance for him, and that the new properties are meant to bring audiences in both cities a cinema experience on par with global standards.

The company's recently appointed CEO, Ajay Agrawal, is also steering efforts to make the customer experience more personalised and frictionless - from booking to the in-cinema journey. Taken together, the expansion reflects where Indian cinema exhibition appears to be headed: away from screens alone, and toward entertainment destinations built for repeat visits.
