Faith and film-making came together in a quiet, heartfelt moment this week as actress Yami Gautam Dhar travelled to the holy city of Ayodhya to seek divine blessings ahead of the release of her upcoming film, Nayi Naveli. Accompanied by producer Aanand L. Rai, Yami visited Ram Ki Paidi on the banks of the Saryu and later offered prayers at the newly built Ram Mandir, marking what she described as an auspicious start to her new cinematic chapter.
Dressed in a soft yellow saree, Yami’s traditional appearance during the visit drew widespread attention, with several glimpses of her darshan circulating on social media soon after. Sharing her thoughts on the trip, the actress remarked that any beginning made in the name of Lord Ram carries its own blessing - a sentiment that captured the quiet devotion behind the visit.
Known for picking scripts that stand apart from convention and for a screen presence that feels effortless rather than performed, Yami is once again stepping into unfamiliar territory with Nayi Naveli. This time, audiences can expect her in a role quite different from what they’ve seen before, set within a world that blends the everyday with the fantastical.
Nayi Naveli is pitched as a family entertainer that weaves together fantasy, comedy, action and adventure, built around the imagination and emotions of an ordinary Indian household. The film follows the story of a newly married bride navigating a life that turns out to be anything but ordinary.
The project is directed by Balaji Mohan, with the story credited to Himanshu Sharma and Divya Nidhi Sharma. It is produced by Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma under the Colour Yellow Productions banner.
Joining Yami in the cast are Adinath Kothare, Sunita Rajwar and Meeta Vashisht, among other notable performers in key roles. The music, composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, is expected to lend the film its distinct festive flavour.
Timed to coincide with Dussehra - a festival that itself celebrates the triumph of good over evil - Nayi Naveli is scheduled to hit theatres on October 16, with Yami’s Ayodhya visit serving as a fitting, faith-filled prelude to the film’s big-screen journey.
