Priyanka Chopra Jonas Teams Up With Russell Crowe For Sci-Fi Thriller Bluefly, Adds Another Global Notch To Her Belt

Global Icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas is showing no signs of slowing down. Over the past year, audiences have witnessed an extraordinary run of announcements and releases that continue to place her at the forefront of both Indian cinema and Hollywood. Following the announcement of director S.S. Rajamouli's highly anticipated action-adventure epic Varanasi, alongside Superstar Mahesh Babu, fans were recently treated to her striking first look as Mandakini, unveiled on her birthday. This was followed by the announcement of her upcoming survival thriller Reset opposite Orlando Bloom, and now, yet another marquee international project.

Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (Nuremberg, upcoming Highlander) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are set to star in the sci fi action thriller Bluefly, it was announced today. Directed by Nimród Antal (Predators, Stranger Things), the film is written by David Frigerio (Beast, Land of Bad), William Eubank (Underwater, The Signal) and Carlyle Eubank (Broke, Muzzle). Highland Film Group will launch worldwide sales at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), with principal photography beginning later this year on Australia's Gold Coast.

Within the past year, Priyanka's international slate has expanded at an extraordinary pace. She headlined The Bluff, which debuted at No. 1 worldwide on Prime Video, starred opposite Idris Elba and John Cena in Heads of State, which became Prime Video's fourth most watched film, unveiled her first look from Varanasi, announced Reset opposite Orlando Bloom, and now joins Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe in Bluefly. Heads of State recently received a nomination for Outstanding Television Movie at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, while Priyanka earned an individual nomination for Best Actress in an Action Movie at the 2026 Critics Choice Super Awards for her lead performance as Ercell Bodden in The Bluff.

Set deep in the Congo, a grieving UN translator is pulled onto a black ops mission to recover a downed aircraft that is not supposed to exist. As a Special Operations team pushes upriver through militia held territory, the recovery becomes a descent, and the closer they get to the craft, the clearer it becomes that they were never meant to bring it home.

The sci fi action thriller is produced by Michael Jefferson for Polite Society, David Frigerio for Broken Open Pictures, Deborah Glover for G2 Dispatch, Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier for Highland Film Group, and Vanessa Yao Guo. The film is executive produced by Lia Buman, Guy Davies, RuthAnne Frigerio, Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Jason Kringstein, Katie Leary, and Scott Levenson.

Highland Film Group is handling worldwide rights, launching sales at TIFF. Principal photography is set to begin later this year on Australia's Gold Coast.
