Tannaz Irani Makes Her OTT Debut With Margao Files: "A Two-Day Role Turned Into Something Much Bigger"

After more than three decades of working across films, television, and reality shows, Tannaz Irani is finally making her digital debut with Margao Files. The actress, known for her versatile screen presence in projects like Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, 36 China Town, and television favourites such as Ye Meri Life Hai, Badi Door Se Aaye Hain, Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum, and Barsatein, says this new chapter came about almost by accident.

"The director offered me the role directly - there was no audition involved," Tannaz recalls. "I went in expecting to shoot for just two days, but the part kept growing, and I ended up with a much bigger presence in the show than I'd planned for."

The actress, who also moonlights as a TEDx speaker, author, director, motivational coach, and India's only celebrity NLP transformation coach, calls the timing of the release almost serendipitous. "This is my OTT debut, and I'm genuinely excited about it. We actually shot this back in 2022, so it feels like the show has found its moment now," she says.

Interestingly, Tannaz didn't lean on elaborate preparation for the role - instead, her focus was on getting the tone just right. "I rehearsed mainly to nail the language and delivery. I wanted it to feel authentic without tipping into harshness. Some of the stronger dialogue was eventually softened since the show streams on WAVES," she explains.

Filmed amid the picturesque mid-island landscapes of Goa, Margao Files leans on its setting as much as its story, using the region's visual character to add depth to the narrative. Tannaz also set the record straight on one detail doing the rounds - while she shares the project with Zeenat Aman, the two don't actually share any scenes together.

For Tannaz, the show is more than a career milestone. It's a marker of how she continues to evolve, take on new formats, and stay open to wherever the next story takes her.
