From Silver Screen to Boardroom: The Bollywood Stars Who Built Business Empires

Stardom in Bollywood used to be measured in one currency: box office numbers. Not anymore. A growing list of A-listers is proving that a hit opening weekend is just one line on their resume — the other lines increasingly read "founder," "co-founder," or "brand owner." From clothing racks to protein bars, these actors are building ventures that outlast any single film's theatrical run.

Alia Bhatt - Ed-a-Mamma

Alia Bhatt stepped into business in 2020 with Ed-a-Mamma, a children's clothing label built around natural fabrics and sustainable fashion. The brand taps into a consumer shift that's been reshaping retail for years - parents increasingly shopping with sustainability in mind - and gives Bhatt a foothold in that conversation well beyond her film roles.

Katrina Kaif - Kay Beauty

Katrina Kaif made her move into cosmetics in 2019 with Kay Beauty, pairing her star power with a genuine product play. The bet has paid off: the brand now sits on shelves in more than 300 stores across over 1,600 cities. That kind of reach doesn't happen on celebrity name alone - it takes a brand strategy built to scale, and Kay Beauty appears to have found one.

Hrithik Roshan - HRX

Hrithik Roshan turned his own fitness discipline into a business with HRX, an activewear and fitness-gear label. The brand leans hard into Roshan's screen persona - high energy, physical discipline, a healthy-living ethos - and uses it as its core identity rather than just a marketing hook.

Kunal Kapoor - Ketto and MetaGo Health

Kunal Kapoor has taken the least conventional route of the group. He co-founded the crowdfunding platform Ketto alongside Varun Sheth and Zaheer Adenwala, which has since helped raise more than $150 million for medical and social causes. He's since widened his footprint into health-tech with MetaGo Health, launched in July 2026 - a sign that Kapoor's business interests run deeper than a one-off brand.

Ranveer Singh - SuperYou

Known on screen for reinventing himself with every role, Ranveer Singh is now doing something similar in business. He co-founded SuperYou, a protein-snacking bar brand aimed at consumers who want taste and nutrition without trading off one for the other.

Taken together, these ventures point to a real shift in how Bollywood stardom works today. Fame still opens the first door, but staying power increasingly comes from what these actors build once they're inside - brands with their own customer bases, their own balance sheets, and their own reasons to exist independent of the next film release. The measure of a Bollywood career, it seems, no longer stops at the box office.
