Sourav Ganguly Biopic 'Dada' First Look Out; Rajkummar Rao Film to Release 14th May 2027

Sourav Ganguly's birthday got an extra reason to celebrate today as the makers of 'Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story' dropped the film's first-look poster, along with confirmation that it will hit theatres worldwide on 14th May 2027, timed to an extended holiday weekend.

The poster puts Rajkummar Rao front and centre, recreating one of Indian cricket's most unforgettable frames - Ganguly whipping off his shirt and swinging it above his head from the Lord's balcony after India's nerve-wracking NatWest Trophy win over England in 2002. That moment has long outgrown the match itself, becoming shorthand for the swagger and self-belief Ganguly brought to Indian cricket as captain.

The film sets out to trace that full arc - from a promising young cricketer out of Kolkata to one of the most transformative captains the Indian team has seen. Beyond the milestones, the makers say the focus is on the persistence and mental toughness that shaped both Ganguly's career and a generation of cricketers who came after him.

Vikramaditya Motwane directs the project, with Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg producing under Luv Films. Gulshan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, T-Series and DBL are presenting the film, which is scheduled for a global theatrical release on 14th May 2027.
