Yami Gautam Brings ‘Nayyi Naveli’ to Jaipur, Insists It’s Not a Horror Film

JAIPUR: Yami Gautam arrived in the Pink City on Thursday to promote her new film Nayyi Naveli, and she had one message for audiences: don’t let the trailer fool you.

The actress landed in Jaipur in the evening and headed to Raj Mandir Cinema that night to meet fans. The film hits theatres on Friday, timed to the Dussehra festive season, and she made no effort to hide her excitement about a festival release.

A pink suit for the Pink City

Gautam spoke warmly of her long connection with Jaipur, calling it a strikingly beautiful city. Two words wouldn’t do it justice, she said, and even two hundred would fall short. She chose a pink suit for the visit as a nod to the city’s nickname, and the crowd clearly appreciated the gesture.

“Not scary, a family entertainer”

The trailer has led many to assume Nayyi Naveli is a horror or horror-comedy. Gautam was quick to correct that. According to her, it is a family film at heart, with something for everyone from children to grandparents. She described it as a fresh kind of cinema and urged audiences to give it plenty of love.

The poster everyone is talking about

The film’s poster has been a talking point since before release. It shows Gautam in a red saree, seated on a chair with a cup of tea in hand and her foot resting on a ghost-like man. Behind her, an effigy of Ravana burns. With the film arriving at Dussehra, viewers have been reading the imagery as a nod to the victory of good over evil, and the poster has drawn plenty of attention from Jaipur’s film lovers.

A session with FICCI FLO

During her visit, Gautam also took part in a session organised by the Jaipur chapter of FICCI FLO, where she interacted with attendees.
