Rahul Dravid Gifts Signed No. 19 Jersey to Abhishek Bachchan as ETPL Nears Its Dublin Finale

Some gifts say more than any speech could. Rahul Dravid has handed Abhishek Bachchan one of those: his signed No. 19 jersey, with a personal note attached.

The message, written in Dravid's own hand, reads: "Dear Abhishek, thank you for your support to the game. Best always, Rahul Dravid." It is a short line, but it comes from a man whose number has become shorthand for grace and grit in Indian cricket.

The timing is fitting. Bachchan is in Dublin as the inaugural European T20 Premier League (ETPL) heads into its closing stages. The tournament features six franchises from Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands, and pairs international names with emerging European talent. The Qualifier was played on September 19, and the Final follows on September 20.

Bachchan co-founded the league with Saurav Banerjee, Priyanka Kaul and Dhiraj Malhotra. The World Cricketers' Association has already offered praise, saying that "ETPL sets the benchmark," a nod to the league's focus on professional standards from day one.

For a first season, it has been a strong run. And in the middle of it, a former India captain's jersey and a few handwritten words have given ETPL a moment that has little to do with scoreboards and a lot to do with the spirit of the game.
