On His Birthday, Dr. Yogesh Lakhani Chooses Service Over Celebration

While most people mark their birthdays with cake and celebration, Dr. Yogesh Lakhani prefers a different kind of joy. For years now, the Chairman and Managing Director of Bright Outdoor Media Limited has turned his birthday into a day of giving - organising food distribution drives, supporting underprivileged families, orphaned children, children with special needs, senior citizens, and blood donation camps.

This year is no exception. Dr. Lakhani's birthday falls on September 25, which also happens to be Ganesh Visarjan day. Rather than plan a party, he's choosing to spend the day among people, seeking their blessings and using the occasion to give back once more.

His story is one of steady, hard-won growth. Starting out in 1980 with modest resources, Dr. Lakhani built his business from the ground up - railway platform boards, wall paintings, banners and poster frames - gradually transforming it into a full-fledged, publicly listed media company. In March 2023, Bright Outdoor Media made history as the first out-of-home (OOH) media company in India to list on the BSE SME platform.

Looking back on a career spanning more than four decades, Dr. Lakhani attributes his success to hard work, his parents' blessings, and what he calls the grace of God. But for him, success isn't just about the milestones - it's about what you do with them. "True happiness," he seems to say through his actions, "lies in sharing it with those who need it most."
