Mumbai-based lawyer Sana Raees Khan has added an unlikely title to her name - cricket franchise owner - and early results suggest she is as formidable in the dugout as she is in the courtroom.

Khan, who has built a reputation as a prominent legal professional in Mumbai, became the owner of the Mumbai Marines cricket franchise, channelling a lifelong passion for the sport into a business venture. The move drew attention, but what followed silenced any sceptics: the Marines won the championship title in their debut season.

Now entering their second season, the franchise is once again being talked about as a serious contender. The team is captained by former New Zealand international Ross Taylor, a pairing of experienced leadership on the field and sharp ownership off it.
