Antara Banerjee Denies Any Link to Viral FIR Controversy, Says Photo Was Misused

Mumbai: A case of mistaken identity has thrown television and web actress Antara Banerjee into an unexpected storm. Her photograph was allegedly used in media reports connected to an FIR that has nothing to do with her, leaving the actress shaken and her phone flooded with calls.

Addressing reporters at a press conference, Antara firmly stated that she has "no connection with this FIR case." The actress, known for her work in shows like Bado Bahu, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kawach Mahashivratri, Divya Drishti, Hero – Gayab Mode On, Laal Ishq, Gumrah and Savdhaan India, explained that the case actually pertains to one Antara Soham Banerjee, a Thane-based model with a similar name. Somewhere along the way, her own photograph got mistakenly attached to the reports, triggering widespread confusion.

The fallout was swift and overwhelming. Within just 24 hours of the reports going public, Antara says she received over 900 calls, WhatsApp messages, and social media messages - a deluge that took a visible toll on her and her family's mental well-being.

"A simple verification could have made it clear that I have no connection with this matter. My identity, built over years of hard work, has been affected because of a mistake," she said. Antara urged media houses and digital platforms to promptly correct any content where her photo or identity has been wrongly used, adding that her intent isn't to blame the media but to underline the need for responsible reporting and fact-checking before publishing.

Her larger point resonated beyond her own case: misinformation can spread in minutes, but a reputation takes years to build - and moments to damage.
