Shael Oswal Turns Playback Singer with "Dil Sambhalta Nahi," the First Song from Max, Min & Meowzaki

Shael Oswal, the singer who won over listeners with his independent single "Hiriye," is stepping into a new phase of his career. He has just released his first playback song, "Dil Sambhalta Nahi," marking his debut in film music with the upcoming release Max, Min & Meowzaki.

The track dropped a week after the film's trailer began doing the rounds online, drawing praise for how much emotion it packed into just a couple of minutes. "Dil Sambhalta Nahi" picks up where that trailer left off, leaning into the same tenderness - a song about the small, quiet moments in a relationship that end up mattering the most.

It's also a bit of a departure from the polished, filtered version of love that tends to dominate social media feeds. Lyricist Himanshu Kohli and composers Yug Bhusal and Roop Mahanta seem to have gone the other way with this one, writing something that sounds more like a real relationship - messy, imperfect, and all the more affecting for it.

For Oswal, this is a natural next step. "Hiriye" built him a following as an independent artist, and this song gives audiences a chance to hear him in a completely different context - as the voice behind a film's emotional core rather than a standalone single.

Max, Min & Meowzaki itself has already had a strong festival run before reaching Indian theatres. The film premiered at Busan and was selected as part of the Best of Fest lineup at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. It also picked up audience awards at festivals in Sonoma, San Francisco and Osaka, along with best feature honours at Stuttgart, Cincinnati, Berlin's Indo-German Film Week, and RIFFA in Canada.

The story centres on loss - and, more specifically, on what it takes to move past it and start over. It's led by an ensemble cast including Medha Shankr, Siddharth Menon, Adil Hussain, Mandira Bedi, Nasser, Nafisa Ali and Vidhatri Bandi.

The film is written and directed by Padmakumar Narasimhamurthy, and produced by Shael Oswal and Samiksha Oswal under their banner, SSO Productions, with Samiksha Oswal also serving as presenter. Max, Min & Meowzaki, shot in Hindi and English, releases in theatres on July 24.
