Monsoon Hair Care: Celebrity Stylist Florian Hurel Says Less Is More
Celebrity hairstylist Florian Hurel shares his monsoon hair care routine - from smart product choices to rethinking oiling rituals — proving that healthy hair always outperforms over-styled hair.
Monsoon season brings its usual mix of humidity, frizz, and hair woes - but according to celebrity hairstylist Florian Hurel, the solution isn't piling on more products. It's about using fewer, smarter ones, applied with intention.
Preparation over correction
Hurel's approach to frizz control begins well before the blow-dryer comes out. "I recommend a gentle hydrating shampoo, followed by a lightweight conditioner applied only through the lengths," he explains. Once hair is towel-dried, he suggests a leave-in conditioner or anti-frizz serum, followed by a heat protectant before any styling begins. A blow-dry with the nozzle angled downward, he adds, helps smooth the cuticle for a naturally polished finish. His philosophy is simple: "Healthy, polished hair never comes from using more product - it comes from using the right product in the right quantity."
What to look for on the label
When it comes to choosing monsoon-friendly formulas, Hurel is precise about ingredients. He looks for products that support both scalp health and hair strength - think niacinamide, panthenol, ceramides, amino acids, and lightweight hydrators. What he steers clear of is anything that leaves behind heavy residue, since product buildup combined with humidity rarely ends well for hair.
