The Bigg Boss Connection That Turned Aamrapali Dubey Into a Bhojpuri Star

Aamrapali Dubey is currently locked inside the Bigg Boss 20 house, but few know the show has an older, stranger tie to her career - one that predates her Bhojpuri stardom by years.

During a casual conversation with fellow contestants, Aamrapali opened up about how her acting career actually traces back to Bigg Boss itself. "I became an actress because of Bigg Boss. Do you know that?" she told them, catching the group's attention.

Long before Bhojpuri cinema embraced her, Aamrapali was working in Hindi television, appearing in shows such as Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar and Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein. Her real career pivot, though, came from an unlikely place: Bigg Boss season 6.

That season had Dinesh Lal Yadav - better known as Nirahua - as a contestant. Also on the show was Santosh Shukla, someone Aamrapali had already worked with during her television days. It was a conversation between these two men, inside the Bigg Boss house, that quietly set her Bhojpuri career in motion.

"Dinesh Lal Yadav came in Bigg Boss season 6. Santosh Shukla was in that season. I worked with Santosh Shukla on television," Aamrapali recalled.

She went on to describe the exchange that changed her trajectory. Nirahua reportedly told Shukla about a big film he was planning and mentioned he wanted to launch a fresh face - someone the Bhojpuri industry would readily accept. "He was looking for a girl for Nirahua Hindustani," she said.

That casual chat inside the Bigg Boss house eventually led Shukla to connect Aamrapali with Nirahua. The result was Nirahua Hindustani (2014), her Bhojpuri debut - and the film that changed the course of her career entirely.

The movie was a hit, and the on-screen chemistry between Aamrapali and Nirahua struck a chord with audiences. What followed was a string of successful films that cemented her place in the industry.

Today, Aamrapali Dubey stands as one of Bhojpuri cinema's leading actresses. And there's a neat sense of irony in her current chapter - the same show that indirectly launched her career over a decade ago now has her sitting inside its house as a contestant.
