For Raavee Gupta, birthdays don't need to be big anymore - they just need to be real. The actress, who turned a year older on August 5, is currently winning hearts with her performance in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. But this year, instead of throwing a party, she's choosing something far quieter: a family getaway to Udaipur.

Caught up in back-to-back shoots for the popular daily soap, Raavee decided her birthday this year would be less about celebration and more about recharging. "This year we're keeping it very small and intimate. No parties or big celebrations," she shares. Her husband is whisking her away to Udaipur - one of her favourite cities - where the couple will check into the iconic Lake Palace for some downtime with family. "That's all I wanted. I've been shooting almost every day, so getting a little time away from work feels really special. Good food, the best company in the world, and a few peaceful moments are exactly what I'm looking forward to," she adds.

What's notably missing this year? A birthday gift - at least, not the kind you can wrap. Raavee admits she hasn't gotten around to buying herself anything, but insists she's already received something far more valuable. "I honestly haven't had the time to think about buying myself anything," she says. "But when I look back at the last year, I feel I've already given myself the biggest gift. I've worked on my physical health, my emotional well-being, and I've made time for myself - not just as a mother, wife, or family member, but as Raavee. I've allowed myself to chase my ambitions again with complete dedication. That is worth much more than anything I could have purchased."

It's a shift in perspective the actress says comes naturally with age. "Material things are lovely, and I do appreciate them, but they don't mean as much anymore. As you grow older, you realise that quiet moments and beautiful memories stay with you much longer. That's what I want this birthday to be about."

On the work front, Raavee is deeply aware of the responsibility that comes with stepping into a role once played by someone else. Her return to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 - a show with a deep emotional legacy for Indian television audiences - has been both an honour and a challenge. "I'm extremely grateful that I got the opportunity to return through a show that has meant so much to so many people, including me. Stepping into a character that has been portrayed before comes with responsibility, so it feels wonderful to receive so much love and appreciation," she says.

The response from fans, she adds, has exceeded her expectations. "I honestly didn't expect so much love. Every day I see messages and DMs from people telling me they like the character, and it genuinely makes my day. It's such a nice feeling when viewers accept you and connect with your performance. I'm just grateful that they're enjoying my work. It pushes me to work even harder, and I'm really looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me."
