Urvashi Rautela Mourns Nana Patekar: "A True Legend Has Bid Us Farewell"

Bollywood is in mourning after veteran actor Nana Patekar passed away on Thursday at the age of 75, and tributes from across the film fraternity have begun pouring in. Among them, actress Urvashi Rautela took to expressing her grief, calling the loss of the celebrated performer irreplaceable for Indian cinema.

Patekar suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors worked for nearly 45 minutes to revive him before he was declared dead at 5:20 am. His son, Malhar Patekar, who was in Pune at the time, immediately left for Goa upon hearing the news. A medico-legal case has reportedly been registered, with an autopsy to follow as per standard procedure.

The news of his passing sent shockwaves through the industry, with actors, filmmakers and fans recalling a career that spanned nearly five decades and produced some of Hindi and Marathi cinema's most unforgettable characters.

Urvashi Rautela was among those visibly moved by the news. Reacting to the veteran actor's demise, she said that Indian cinema had lost an artist whose presence could never truly be replaced. She spoke of Patekar's unmistakable voice, his gallery of memorable characters, and dialogues that have remained etched in public memory long after their films released - an influence, she noted, that stretched well beyond the screen and into the fabric of popular culture itself.

Sharing her tribute, Urvashi said, "Nana Patekar was a phenomenal actor, a legendary voice, and an extraordinary personality in Indian cinema whose place can never be filled. A true legend has bid us farewell. Nana Sir, may your soul rest in peace."

Her words echoed the sentiment rippling across the industry on Thursday - that of an actor whose body of work, from intense dramatic roles to beloved comic turns, shaped the landscape of Indian cinema in ways few of his contemporaries managed. As the film fraternity continues to pay homage, Urvashi's tribute stands as a reflection of the deep respect Patekar commanded among both veterans and the younger generation of actors he inspired.

Nana Patekar is survived by his wife, Neelkanti Patekar, and son Malhar Patekar.
