Rajamouli Wraps Action Sequences for Varanasi, Eyes 2027 Global Release
S.S. Rajamouli completes action sequences for his upcoming film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, with a worldwide release set for April 2027.
S.S. Rajamouli, the filmmaker behind global hits like Baahubali and RRR, has reached a major milestone in his next big venture, Varanasi. The director confirmed that all the film's large-scale action sequences are now complete, with only the emotional and narrative-driven portions left to shoot - a phase he expects to finish by September or October.
The film stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, and has already generated considerable buzz as one of the most awaited Indian films in recent memory. Rajamouli also addressed how the project has been shot, noting that Varanasi was conceived for the IMAX format from its earliest planning stages rather than being retrofitted for it during post-production - a distinction he says shapes how the film was visually designed from the ground up.
