Aryabhatta Ka Zero: Teaser Promises a Story of Heartbreak, Grit and Reinvention

The teaser for Aryabhatta Ka Zero, the upcoming film starring Himansh Kohli of Yaariyan fame, is out - and in just 70 seconds, it packs in heartbreak, family conflict, and a fair bit of wit.

The clip opens on a news anchor delivering a wry observation: that men who get dumped usually turn to drink, or worse, but this particular story took a different turn - heartbreak turned its hero into an IAS officer. From there, the teaser cuts to a young man announcing his dream of becoming a District Magistrate to his parents, only to be answered with a slap from his father. It's the moment that sets the emotional tone for everything that follows.

Ravi Kishan, playing the film's philosophical elder, gets some of the teaser's sharpest lines - including a tongue-in-cheek take on attending an ex's wedding just for the food. In a quieter beat, he offers the reassurance that everything happens for the best, to which Kohli's character simply replies that nothing ever seems to work out for him. It's a small exchange, but it captures the film's blend of humor and melancholy.

Between flashes of action and drama, the teaser closes on a defiant note, with Kohli's character declaring he's done living like he has nothing - he wants respect. The track "Dil Farzi" plays underneath, lending the whole thing an aching, romantic edge.

Kohli plays Brahmagupt Srivastava - "Baggu" to everyone who knows him - a 25-year-old from a middle-class family who's spent years being written off as a failure. The film follows his slow transformation from a young man crushed by self-doubt into someone who finally finds his footing.

"This is a character today's Gen Z will strongly relate to," Kohli said of the role. "Young people often face situations they didn't create, but that keep shaping their lives anyway. Eventually there's a moment where you decide it's time to move forward. It's a story about love, failure, bad luck, struggle - and, above everything, determination."

The cast also includes Sonali Sehgal, Darshana Banik, Naresh Vohra, Alka Amin, and Neeraj Sood, with Shilpa Shinde appearing in a special role. The film is directed by Kamal Chandra and produced under the Newtech Media Entertainment, Radhika G Films, and Sunil Sihag Gauran Films banners, in association with A2R Films. Producers include Birendra Bhagat, Ravi S. Gupta, Sanjay Nagpal, and Sheo Balak Singh, with Sunil Sihag, Triloki Nath Prasad, the late Kuldeep Bhandari, Akanksha Rahul Sharma, and Rita Gadge on board as co-producers.

Aryabhatta Ka Zero releases in theatres on August 7.
