'Reality Shows Break You Emotionally': Chetna Pande on Ace of Space, Khatron Ke Khiladi and the Journey That Built Her

For Chetna Pande, nothing has come without a fight. The Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past actress has built her career the hard way - through emotional bruising on reality TV, the quiet grief of personal loss, and a stubborn refusal to accept a half-told story as her final word.

It was Ace of Space that first let audiences see past the characters she had played. Before that show, most people knew her as Jenny from Dilwale - a face attached to someone else's story. Reality TV changed the equation entirely.

"Reality shows break you emotionally because dealing with so many situations and challenges is not easy. Whether you are crying, fighting or laughing, people connect directly with who you really are."

That unfiltered exposure turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to her. Her social media following grew almost overnight, built on a foundation of viewers who felt they actually knew her - not a character she had been hired to play.

Khatron Ke Khiladi upped the stakes dramatically. If Ace of Space had tested her emotionally, this show put her body through the wringer. She woke up every morning genuinely unsure of what the day would demand of her. Water stunts, she recalls, were the worst - those moments where the body keeps going long after the mind has asked to stop.

She did it all as a tribute to her father, a man who had drilled toughness into her since childhood. The early morning workouts, the discipline, the refusal to make excuses - all of it came back to her on those sets.

"I did that show for my father. Doing that show was my dedication to him."

The elimination after just one round remains a sore point. She had more to give and never got the chance to prove it. But Pande has found a way to make peace with things left unfinished. "Some incomplete journeys are still beautiful," she says - and it sounds less like a consolation and more like something she has genuinely come to believe.

On the sets of Haunted 3D, she found a collaborator she hadn't quite expected. Mimoh Chakraborty, co-star and son of the legendary Mithun Chakraborty, turned out to be the kind of colleague every actor hopes for - warm, grounded, and completely unbothered by his famous last name. He pushed her when she needed it, reassured her when nerves crept in, and never once made her feel like she was playing second fiddle.

When Mithun Chakraborty himself appeared on set, the pressure was palpable. But Mimoh kept telling her to breathe. The scene went well. The room applauded. And then Mimoh passed along the information that mattered most: his father rarely praises anyone. If he was pleased, she had earned it.

The compliment she will carry the longest, though, came from director Vikram Bhatt. Before the film's release, he called her personally to say what he felt - that no one else could have played Sunheri. That she was the only Sunheri.

When she finally sat down to watch the film herself, she was surprised by what she saw. The performance felt bigger than she remembered giving. She credited Bhatt's direction. But the truth is somewhere between the two: a director can only draw out what's already there.

Audiences seem to have picked up on something real too. One viewer told Pande that the film's central message was simple - what you put into the world finds its way back to you. It's a lesson that, if you trace Chetna Pande's journey closely enough, she has been living out for years.
