Mishkat Verma on Tu Ya Koi Nahin: "Playing a Double Role is Rare, Every Actor Craves It"
Actor Mishkat Verma opens up about playing a rare double role in Ishika Shahi's Tu Ya Koi Nahin, his creative freedom on digital, working with Priyanshi, and what makes this unconventional love story stand out.
Mishkat Verma is no stranger to the screen, but his latest outing is asking viewers to look at him in a whole new light. The actor plays Ansh in Ishika Shahi's Tu Ya Koi Nahin, a fresh offering streaming on the Director's Kut Production YouTube channel. Interestingly, Verma admits he wasn't immediately convinced he was right for the part - it took some persuading from Ishika and veteran producer Rajan Shahi before he came on board.
"When Ishika and Rajan sir first approached me, Ishika narrated the story, and my first reaction was to ask if she was sure she wanted me for this role - Ansh, especially, was completely new territory for me," he recalled. "I even asked for an audition before they cast me, but they were confident about their choice. After that, saying yes was a no-brainer. A double role doesn't come around often, and it's something most actors dream of. People don't usually picture me playing someone like Ansh, so I was glad someone finally did."
Playing two characters in one story means living inside two very different headspaces, and Verma is quick to separate them. "Ansh is passionate, fearless, fiercely loyal. Yash is loyal too, but he's also funny and innocent. They're poles apart in personality, which is exactly what made playing both of them so exciting - and challenging."
