Nushrratt Bharuccha Breaks Silence on Viral Instagram Clip: A Puppy Was Behind Those Sounds

It started with an IPL final and ended with a lesson in internet mob mentality. Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha found herself at the centre of an unexpected social media storm this week — all because of a puppy.

The actress had posted an Instagram Story while watching the IPL 2026 final, and unusual sounds audible in the background were enough to set the rumour mill spinning at full speed.  Speculation spread quickly, with users dissecting the clip and arriving at all manner of conclusions — none of which, it turns out, had anything to do with reality.

On Thursday, Nushrratt had enough. She took to her Instagram Stories, shared screenshots from her earlier posts, and wrote a detailed note setting the facts straight — the sounds, she explained, came entirely from a young puppy. 

“Kuch logon ne hadh hi kar di hai,” she wrote, which translates roughly to “some people have really crossed a line.” She went on to explain that she had been watching the match at a friend’s house, where the family’s young puppy had been crying and making noises throughout the evening. She even shared a video recorded by her friend from a different angle at the same time, capturing the same sounds. 

What made the situation worse was that someone had apparently taken it upon themselves to issue a fake clarification on the actress’s behalf — something Nushrratt was quick to flag. She directly called out the fake statement, making clear she had not authorised any such communication. 

To further substantiate her account, she shared footage of the house where she watched the match, the puppy itself, and a separate video from later that same night.  She also revealed that she had actually been advised to delete the original story precisely to avoid the kind of frenzy that ended up happening anyway — and that she had done so, only for it to matter little.

Her closing words carried unmistakable frustration: “People, calm your wild thoughts down! Owning a mobile phone doesn’t empower harassment. Do not misinterpret or follow blindly. Think and act responsibly.” 

The controversy had rapidly become one of the most discussed entertainment stories online, with countless users debating the clip without a single word of confirmation from the actress herself.  It’s a pattern that has become all too familiar in the age of social media — where a few seconds of ambiguous audio can snowball into headlines before anyone pauses to ask the most obvious question.
