Badshah's Nightclub SAGO Sealed in Chandigarh - Here's What Authorities Found Inside

It has been a rough stretch for rapper and singer Badshah, and the latest trouble has nothing to do with music. His Chandigarh-based nightclub SAGO, a popular nightlife destination in Sector 26, was sealed by the local administration on Tuesday morning following a prolonged standoff over alleged building norm violations.

What Led to the Sealing?

The action did not come out of nowhere. Authorities had been flagging irregularities at the venue for months, issuing multiple notices to the club management and directing them to bring the premises in line with the approved building plan. When those directions went unheeded, a joint team from the Estate Office's Building Branch and Enforcement Wing arrived at the site around 9:30 AM, accompanied by police personnel, and carried out the sealing.

Inspections revealed a long list of unauthorised additions and alterations - cabins, partitions, extra toilets, kitchens, a cold storage unit, tin sheds, and covered courtyards using metal structures and fibre sheets, none of which were part of the originally sanctioned plan. Modifications to the rear elevation of the building were also flagged.

Bigger Crackdown Underway

SAGO is not the only establishment in the crosshairs. Chandigarh's administration has been running a sustained drive against commercial venues flouting construction and safety norms, with close to ten clubs and bars sealed across the city over the past year alone. On the same day SAGO was sealed, another commercial property in Sector 17 was also shut down for similar reasons. Officials have made clear the enforcement push is far from over.

A Difficult Year for Badshah

The club sealing comes at an already difficult time for the rapper. Earlier this year, Badshah faced significant backlash over his song Tateeree, which attracted an FIR in Panchkula over its lyrics and visuals. Haryana Police confirmed that hundreds of links to the track were taken down across social media platforms following legal proceedings.

Badshah has not made any public statement regarding the sealing of SAGO so far.
